10 Must-Watch Races From Kevin Dare

10. Boys 3K - Colwell controls the race & pulls out the win

Penns Valley's Brendan Colwell likely has a ton of motivation coming into the indoor season. The junior was an unlucky 11th place at Foot Locker Northeast, just missing a spot in Foot Locker Nationals. But he showed he's ready to compete at a high level on the track this winter on Saturday.

In a very competitive boys 3,000 meters at Kevin Dare, Colwell outlasted a deep field to win in 8:52.75, a PA No. 2 time. With under a mile to go, Colwell went to the front and to string out a big field of contenders. he eventually opened up a gap and held off a late charge from State College's Brady Bigger to capture the win.

The race featured four of the top 3K times in the state so far this season. Bigger took second in 8:53.27 (PA#3), while Gonzaga's (DC)'s Patrick Donnelly (8:54.27), Pennridge's Diego Lera-Lozano (PA#4 8:54.97), and Mount Carmel's Krystof Lapotsky (PA#5 8:56.53) all broke the 9-minute barrier.
