This boys mile race from 2018 may be one of the wildest finishes you'll ever witness.
The first 1,409 meters of the Azusa Meet of Champions boys mile invitational belonged to Redlands East's (CA) Elias Opsahl, who set an honest pace through 400 meters, became confused when no one was going with him, and then said the heck-with-it and made a second move at 800 meter, extending his lead by as much as 50 meters.
But Opsahl made a critical mistake, missing on the judgement and it all came back to him in the final 250 meters.
At first, it seemed like Moise Medrano judged it just perfectly, as his speed allowed him to take the lead with less than 80 meters to go. But perhaps he forgot about Xavier Court, the Mira Costa senior who would go on to win.
Needless to say, watch it all go down in the above clip. Check out all the race archives from 2018 here.
