SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Shippensburg University head cross country coach Steve Spence '85 has been featured on the front page of the nationally distributed Running Times magazine along with his daughter Neely Spence, a women's cross country sophomore and the 2009 USA Junior Cross Country champion.

"(Just Try) Keeping Up With the Spences," an article by John Kissane, spans six pages and chronicles the life and times of a family unit that lives and breathes running. The primary focus of the article is the path taken by Steve to reach this point in his life, where he is set to begin his ninth full season as the head cross country coach at Shippensburg University.

The article features comments by head track and field coach Dave Osanitsch as well as senior athlete Mary Dell. It concludes with the accomplishments of Neely and the remainder of her family. The full article can be found on newsstands now and can be read in its entirety here.
