Throwback: Mancini Wins At Judge

Last year brought back the Father Judge Relays after the meet took a 12-year hiatus. It was great to see the top quality meet return to Northeast Philly.

This past Saturday would have brought us the 32nd edition of the Judge Relays. Of course, amid the coronavirus pandemic, the meet was canceled. So we're looking back on some of the action from last year when the meet made its return to the spotlight.

In a very competitive girls 800 meters that saw the full pack of girls all packed up through the first 400 meters, Christine Mancini of Cardinal O'Hara emerged victorious. Mancini, then a senior, put herself in great positioning throughout the race. She sat right on the shoulder of the leader and with 100 meters to go, she swung wide to kick to the victory.

Mancini clocked a time of 2:14.97 to beat out Kellenberg Memorial's Maureen Lewis, who ran 2:15.37 for second. Mancini went on to take seventh at the PIAA State Championships in the AAA 800.
