Talitha Diggs of Saucon Valley was coming into the outdoor season aiming to defend her PIAA state titles in the 400 and 200. The University of Florida recruit was set to have a crack at PA state records in the 400 and 200 meters. The coronavirus may have thrown a wretch in her plans, but Diggs is still looking ahead.
She shared her thoughts on the cancelation of the season and looks ahead to the rest of her high school career in a journal submission below.

During quarantine, I have had a lot of time to think. I truly miss my school environment, my
friends, and practicing like normal. It always hurts when things don't go as planned, especially
since I was looking forward to defending my titles and taking down some state records.
However, because I am still training for some meets in the future, practice has turned into a time
that I use to escape quarantine. I am going to compete at New Balance Nationals and I am
excited to run on an all-star relay with some of my friends! Remaining focused throughout this
time is difficult, but it is during these times that my true motivation comes out. I am driven to be
great in all aspects of my life and it is my will that keeps me going.
Each day I also take time to remember that I am blessed to be safe from the virus and that I
must continue to trust God's plan for me. I trust God's will despite losing most of my senior
season because I have grown a deeper appreciation for the sport. Not being able to run made
me remember how much I love track and field and the competitive nature of it. When I run again
I will give 110% because I now truly appreciate the opportunity to compete.
Lastly, running Pennsylvania high school track helped shape who I am but losing it helped me
remember why I started track in the first place. I run to inspire and bring joy to my family, my
coach, my friends, my Saucon Valley community, and all the people who support me. Running
has shaped me as an athlete, but it wasn't until it was taken away that I realized how it has
shaped me as a person.
