Thomas Rolls To LL League Title; Hempfield Wins

Penn Manor's Graham Thomas ran to the win at the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships, held on Tuesday afternoon at Ephrata Middle School. Only the boys competed on Tuesday with the girls set to run on Wednesday.

Thomas made a decisive move just after the mile mark and extended his lead almost immediately, pulling away from a talented L-L League field. Thomas went 16:07 for the win, improving two spots from his third place finish last year.

Aidan Hodge, a sophomore, placed second in 16:31 to lead the way for the team champions from Hempfield. JP McCaskey's Stephen Schousen was third in 16:34 and Manheim Township's Tyler Stevens was fourth in 16:37.

After Hodge, Hempfield put three others in the top ten with Dale Winand placing sixth, Evan Eshleman seventh, and Joseph Fahrney ninth. The Black Knights scored 44 points to take the win.

Cedar Crest, the 2019 league champs, took second with 61 points, led by Ryan Wolfe's fifth place run in 16:41. Both Hempfield and Cedar Crest will advance to the PIAA District 3 Championships in a week in a half.
