Adidas Indoor Nationals - PA Boys Sprints & Hurdles Preview
Championship 60m Dash - Saturday, 11:10 A.M. (Prelims)
Upper Dublin's Jaden Price-Whitehead is most known for his prowess in the jumps, but the senior is also a strong sprinter. He's entered in the Championship 60 meter dash with the prelims coming on Saturday morning. Price-Whitehead is PA No. 1 in both the 55m (6.45) and the 60m (7.02).
Also entered is Malvern Prep's D'Angelo Stocker, who posted an impressive 55m win at the Carnival. He's PA#3 in the 60m with a season best of 7.17. Look for him to drop some time this weekend.
Championship 200m - Friday, 5:25 P.M. (Prelims)
Guinness Brown of Butler is the lone Pennsylvania entry in the Championship 200 meters. It's been a breakthrough winter for the junior, who most recently lowered his own PA#1 in the 200 to 21.93 at Youngstown State this past weekend. He enters the absolutely loaded 200 meter field for this weekend at US#40.
Championship 400m - Friday, 11:30 A.M. (Prelims)
Like the 200 meters, Guinness Brown of Butler is the only PA entry in the Championship 400 meters. He's been the star of the 200 and 400 in PA all winter long and he'll look to keep that rolling into this weekend. The 400 meters comes first on what will be a busy Friday of prelims for Brown.
Brown sits at PA#1 in the 400 -- still as the only PA boy to have run under 50 seconds in the event this winter. His 49.12 came at the SPIRE Showcase, where he claimed the win. He's got some big meet experience, which he hopes will pay off as he moves to a 200 meter track at VA Beach.
Championship 60m Hurdles - Saturday, 9:15 A.M. (Prelims)
District 4 will be well-represented in the Championship section of the 60m hurdles. PA's two entries are Williamsport's Allen Taylor and Southern Columbia's Jake Rose.
Taylor bettered his own PA#1 just this past weekend at YSU, dropping a PR of 8.01. He's hitting his stride at the right time and will surely have sub-8 seconds on his mind as he toes the line on Saturday morning for the prelims. He sits at US No. 10, so he'll be a big threat to make the finals where anything can happen.
Rose will be one to watch, as well. His lone hurdles race this season came at the PTFCA Carnival, where he went 7.90 in the 55m hurdles for the win on a not-so-great Glen Mills track surface that doesn't allow spikes. Spiked up at VA Beach, Rose, who went 8.28 for 60m hurdles last winter, will have a great shot for a big PR.
