AA Boys 300m Hurdles Preview
Look for a close race in the AA 300 meter hurdles. Richland's Charles Levander enters the meet as the top seed and PA#1 in AA after a big PR at the District 6 Championships. Levander shaved over a second off his previous PR to take the win in 39.64, and he'll look to drop even more time on Friday.
His best challenge will come from Jake Rose of Southern Columbia, who is the top seed in the 110 meter hurdles. Rose has gone sub-40 three ties this season, including a best of 39.75 at his PHAC sectional meet. He went 39.95 for the District 4 title and will look to claim two hurdle golds on Friday, with the 300s coming second.
Those two are the only ones in the field with sub-40s to their name this spring, but five others have run sub-41 coming into the state meet. Delone Catholic's Ryan Murphy went 40.52 to win the District 3 crown. Bedford's Braden Ford clocked a 40.86 to win District 5 last week, while Punsutawney's Tyler Elliott ran 40.90 to capture the District 9 title. Hunter Shawley of Bellwood Antis ran 40.94 to take second to Levander in District 6.
Moniteau's Alex Bell was is the 13th seed entering the state meet, but he has the fourth best AA time of the season so far -- a 40.86 from the City of Hermitage Invite in early May.
