EDINBORO, Pa. - The Shippensburg women's cross country team, ranked No. 8 in Division II, continued its strong season on Saturday afternoon by winning the PSAC Women's Cross Country Championships for the second consecutive season while sophomore Neely Spence also won the individual title for the second straight season.

Shippensburg won its fourth conference championship overall based on the balance of two top performers and a solid middle pack. Spence posted the top individual time by completing the 6K course in 21:32, a strong effort considering the course was overwhelmed with puddles and slippery conditions.

The same four athletes for Shippensburg earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive season. Junior Mary Dell posted her strongest finish at the conference championship with a third-place effort of 21:54. Her third consecutive all-conference performance edged perennial top performers Jen Harpp of Slippery Rock and Tina Yi of Edinboro. 

Junior Abby Huber had an excellent performance considering with a 17th-place finish in 23:44 despite battling the flu for the entire week. Redshirt sophomore Katie Frey was just one second behind Huber and finished in 18th-place.

The final scorer for Shippensburg was sophomore Sarah Strayer, who finished in 38th place finish with a time of 24:27. Rounding out the Top 7 for Shippensburg was redshirt junior Lindsey Hollenshead [42nd place; 24:30] and junior Emily Dubs [43rd place; 24:31].

Bloomsburg finished in second place with 95 points and also finished with four all-conference runners. Slippery Rock, Lock Haven and Kutztown rounded out the Top 5.

The NCAA Atlantic Regionals will be held next Saturday from Mansfield University.
