Individuals Breakdown

It should be a very interesting battle for the top spot in District 12 Class A this fall. There's the defending district champion in Keaton Rush of Devon Prep back this year, but he will be challenged by a pair of Public League boys that didn't get the opportunity to compete in the fall. Masterman's Calder Burke and Motivation's Kesi Hatton will be right in the mix for the title.

Rush ran a 5K best of 18:41 last fall and ended up 65th at the state meet in Class A. Meanwhile, Hatton was the district champion in 2019, running 17:57 at Belmont Plateau that year. He'll look to reclaim the title this time around. But Burke won the Public League XC title over Hatton this past spring. Burke was third in the district as a freshman in 2019 and very well could be the one to beat this year after his big Public League victory.

Devon Prep's Max Mongiello, second to Rush at the district meet last year, is another one to watch out for. Overall, it should be an exciting battle this fall in D12-A individually.

Team Preview

Masterman will look to take home the D12-A team title this fall. Masterman rolled to the Public League title this past spring, and always boasts some strong depth. With Burke up front, Masterman will look to take back the district title after not competing last fall.

The defending district champions from Devon Preparatory School will be in the mix, as well. All seven boys from last year's state qualifying squad are back this season. This team is developing well and should be in the driver's seat for one of the two state spots this season. Motivation is a team that will look to add some depth and make a run at the top two.
