Individuals Breakdown

Bedford's Meah Eshelman took home the District 5 Class AA title last year, besting a field of almost all her own teammates. Eshelman ran 21:33 at Somerset to take the win. She went on to place 55th at the state meet. Now a junior, she will look to go after another district title and chase a higher state finish.

Among her Bedford teammates looking to challenge for the district crown this year are Avrey Weatherling (third at districts, 69th at states), Maura Thomas (fourth at districts, 79th at states), and Alexis Twigg (second at districts, 80th at states).

Somerset Area, which did not compete at the district meet last year, has four returners from last year with Alyssa Richard being the top returner.

Team Breakdown

It was a virtual dual meet for Bedford last season, which took the first seven spots at the district meet last year to score the minimum 15 points and advance to the state meet. At states, Bedford placed sixth. This season the defending district champions bring back the full squad, led by Eshelman.

The team's sub-2 minute 1-5 gap was one of the best at the state meet and this team will be the ones to beat again in 2020. Somerset Area and Carrick are among the other teams in the district, looking to add some depth for a full squad this season.
