Individuals Breakdown

For the last four years, the individual district title in District 1 Class A has belonged to the Miller family, with Jack Miller winning in 2017 and 2018 and Luke Miller carrying the torch in 2019 and 2020. The Miller brothers are both in college now, but the district title should still stay in the hands of Jenkintown.

Oliver Michell is called on as the new No. 1 for Jenkintown. The junior was third in the district last year, and he went on to take 11th at the state meet. Michell is Class A's No. 3 returner based on state meet finish. He should be in line for a big junior season. Michell will be the big favorite in D1-A.

It will be a true changing of the guard in D1-A. The only other returner from the top ten of the district last year is Dock Mennonite's Trevor Godshall. He was tenth in D1-A as a junior last year. Godshall qualified for the state meet, where he placed 120th. Bristol's Aidan Quattrocchi was 11th in the district and 108th at the state meet. Those two will be ones to watch this fall.

Team Preview

Jenkintown was dominant in 2020, sweeping the field at the District 1 Championships before cruising to the state title behind four individual state medalists. The Drakes put 44 points on the board to win by 40 and win the program's second state title in three years.

For Jenkintown this year, though, it will see a big roster turnover. Three of those state medalistsand five of the team's top seven from last year have graduated. Michell -- who was 11th at states last year -- and Nathaniel Barnett are the lone holdovers. Jenkintown will call on some of its JV runners from last year to step into important varsity roles.

It will be a retooling year for the Drakes, but they will still be the favorites to win their sixth straight D1-A team title.

Dock Mennonite Academy and Bristol will be among the teams looking to challenge for the title this season.
