MANSFIELD, Pa. - The Shippensburg University men's and women's cross country programs each won the Atlantic Region Championship with stupendous performances on Saturday morning from Mansfield and will now advance to the national championships in two weeks.

Sophomore Neely Spence won the women's individual title while junior Mary Dell finished third. Shippensburg totaled 86 points to edge PSAC rival Kutztown by 14 points and win the regional title for the second consecutive year and the fourth time in school history.

Junior Bryan Beegle placed third to help lead a men's pack that placed all five of its runners in the Top 13 to finish with a sensational 39 points. The Red Raiders edged regional rival Edinboro by 17 points and PSAC champion Lock Haven by 23 points. It is the first regional title in the history of the Raider program.
