This week's Tasty Race comes from the VA Showcase, where Archbishop Wood's Gary Martin zoomed to the nation lead in the 2 mile. The senior University of Virginia signee clocked a time of 9:04.65 to earn a convincing win at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
He also split US No. 1 times in the 3K (8:28.94) and 3,200 meters (9:01.77) en route to his winning 2 mile. This came a day after he anchored Wood's distance medley relay team to a fourth place finish in a PA No. 3 time of 10:44.66.
For Martin, it was just off his indoor personal best in the event of 9:02.93, which he ran on the same track at adidas Indoor Nationals last winter. It's a sign of good things to come for Martin in 2022, and of course, the multi-time Pennsylvania state champion continues to be one worth watching for this year.
