Virginia D3 schools invade PA at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, PA -- Several Virginia schools invaded Pennsylvania this past weekend and came home with some serious hardware on the hilly 8050 course. Leading the way was Christopher Newport University who placed their top 4 in the top 15 places to win the race in a score of 58 points. Leading the way for CNU was Cary Chaffee who posted a time of 26:43 to take runner-up honors in the field of 208 runners. Also running well for CNU were Jay Wyss (8th in 27:16.48), David Barham (11th in 27:38.78) and Daniel Swale (13th in 27:43.17). Two other Virginia schools placed in the top five as a team as Lynchburg and Mary Washington snagged 3rd and 4th in the team standings. Leading Lynchburg College was the duel of National qualifier Brian Flynn (6th in 27:06) and freshman Travis Wray (7th in 27:13), while Todd Kronenberg (4th in 26:58) led Mary Washington.

The Virginia women didn't fair quite as well as the men, but came away with solid results as Christopher Newport took third and Mary Washington took fifth in the team standings. The top S/SE woman was Christopher Newport's Emily Low who posted a time of 20:11 over the 5,100 meter course. Also placing in the top 20 in the field were CNU's Bridgett Dryer (14th in 20:38) and Megan Fogarty (17th in 20:52) along with Mary Washington's Ann Tripp (18th in 20:56).
