Conestoga teammates Kacie O'Neil and Marta Klebe ran PA #3 and #4 800's, going 2:17.6 and 2:18.4, respectively. Megan McGarrity of St. Basil Academy ran 5:17.3 to place 5th in the 1600 meter run, and West Chester Henderson ran 9:51.5 in the 4x800 to finish 11th. For the boys, West Chester Henderson ran a new PA #1 time in the distance medley with a time of 10:28.7 to place 4th, and Shane Lutz of Twin Valley ran a PA#5 time of 1:58.9 to place 3rd in the 800 meter run. |

Welcome to the postseason! And for many individuals and relays, the postseason got off to a great start! The meet featured 149 state qualifying performances and many of PA’s best were a part of the fun! What did Carlton do now? Try a top 15 all-time long jump!
PA#1 performances included Swenson’s Shanae Bailey edging out Shelley Black of James M. Coughlin 8.84-8.85 in the 60 hurdles. Leah Nugent (Left in PTXC Photo) of Abington ran a PA#1 400 meter dash in 57.07 over PA#3 Callie Francis of Hill School (58.16). Allison Vanek of Wilson Area and Lauren Terstappen of Phoenixville both cleared 12-3 in the pole vault for PA#1 honors, with Vanek earning the victory on misses. Central Bucks East (Jenny Guidera (3:51.9), Ali Gillen (62.5), Veronica Eder (2:31.6), Katie Kinkead (5:07.9) won the DMR with a PA#1 time of 12:33.96, and Cierra White of Engineering and Science edged out reigning 60 meter dash state champion Rayiana Johnson of Chester 7.67-7.68. Johnson would rebound and run a 25.19 to win the 200 meter dash for a PA#2 mark and led off the winning 4x200 meter relay team with a time of 1:45.26. Brittany Howell of Cheltenham won the long jump with a PA#2 mark of 18-3.25, one inch better than PA#3 Rachel Van Metre of Strath Haven (18-2.25). For the boys, Carlton Lavong of Methacton (Right in PTXC Photo) had the individual performance of the day, setting a meet record and improving his US#1 long jump to 24-11. His performance places him as the 14th all time best performer in the US.
Reigning 60 meter hurdles state champion Wallace Spencer of Malvern (Left in PTXC Photo) Prep ran 8.03 to win the event and improve his PA#1 and move up to US#3. Altoona’s Brady Gehret took a break from his main events, but still won the 60 meter dash with a PA#2 time of 6.94 to edge out current PA#1 Alex Kenney of State College (6.95). Kenney would come back and win the 200 in a PA#3 time of 22.35. Altoona’s Wade Endress ran a PA#3 time of 4:25.07 to win the mile over Vince Perozze of Perkiomen Valley (4:25.75 PA#4). Alex Monroe of Indian Valley ran a PA#3 time of 8:53.77 to win the 3000 meter run. Mick Coleman of William Tennent cleared 15 feet even to win the pole vault and earn PA#2 honors. In the relays, Tom Mallon (Right in PTXC Photo) split 4:19.4, including a 59.3 last 400 meters to bring Central Bucks South from behind to win the distance medley with a PA#2 time of 10:39.89 and a meet record. Abington also set a meet record in the 4x800 meter relay, running 8:04.99.

USATF Cross Country Championships
Duke freshman and Lewisburg grad Sophia Ziemian took the 6th and final spot on the USATF Juniors XC Team with her 20:49. (Photo by Victah Sailer, PhotoRun.net) Jordan Jenkins (New Oxford/NC State), was 17th in 22:23. On the men's side, LaSalle University teammate Joe Beveridge (Bishop McDevitt-3) and Alfredo Santana (Nueva Esperanza Charter), finished 16th and 17th, respectively, in identical times of 25:28. And former Lower Merion teammates Neal Berman (Wisconsin), and Ben Furcht (Georgetown), were 22nd (25:49) and 24th (25:51), respectively. |
