NEW YORK CITY – Sophomore sprinter
Katie Craven eclipsed a 10-year-old school record in the 200-meter dash with a PSAC-leading time of 25.53 seconds to pace the Shippensburg University women's track and field team on Friday night from the Lafayette/Rider Winter Games held inside the Armory Track and Field Center.
Junior
Erica Hess posted an NCAA-provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 57.47 seconds that stands as the second-fastest time to date in the PSAC. Senior
Shannon Hare finished in 59.05 seconds, the fifth-best performance in the PSAC, while junior
Laura Henzy and sophomore
Lindsay Bingaman also cracked the PSAC Top 10 for the season.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Hare, Craven, Hess and Henzy was just behind its previous season-best effort by posting a Friday time of 3:54.63. Craven also posted a time of 8.05 seconds in the 60-meter dash, posting a time of 8.05 seconds. Also in sprints, freshman
Caitlin Stuetz finished the 60-meter hurdles in 9.19 seconds, the third-fastest time in the PSAC this season.
Junior
Abby Huber posted the fastest time in the PSAC this season in the mile. Her third-place finish in 5:00.39 passed the NCAA provisional mark by four seconds. Freshman
Ashley Fornshell posted the sixth-fastest time in the PSAC this season for the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:19.24.
In the field, junior
Steph Harrison had a third-place throw of 15.51 meters that is about a foot short of her season best. Graduate
Amanda Spickler paced the team in jumps with solid performances on Friday but could not match her previous season-bests from the Bucknell Heptagonal.
The Shippensburg University women's track and field team is ranked atop the Atlantic Region and sits No. 6 in Division II. The Lady Raiders will send a faction to compete tomorrow at the Bucknell Winter Classic in Lewisburg.
