SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's track and field team picked up wins in seven individual events Friday night at the SRU Open at Morrow Field House.
Bill Nguyen picked up a pair of wins to lead Slippery Rock Friday night. Nguyen topped the field in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.69 seconds. He also bested the field in the long jump with a leap of 6.74 meters.
Nguyen was joined in the 55m by
Mason McLaughlin, who finished third in 6.82 seconds.
Terrece Draper and
Shawn Vanderbrook joined Nguyen in the long jump, with Draper placing second with a leap of 6.30m and Vanderbrook following in third at 6.27m
Vanderbrook picked up the win in the triple jump with a leap of 13.48 meters.
Ethan Geisler tied with
Brady Wert for first-place in the hurdles with a time of 8.16 seconds. They were joined in third-place by
Dan Hedglin in a time of 8.38 seconds.
Jimmy Schneider won the pole vault convincingly, clearing 4.57 meters.
Matt Antis placed second with a clearance of 3.97m.
Dan Henry cruised to a win in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.59 to lead the middle-distance runners.
The throwers were led by
Andrew Greenslade, who won the shot put with a throw of 12.75 meters.
Geisler also placed second in the 400-meter dash in 53.30 seconds, with McLaughlin placing third in 53.48 seconds.
McLaughlin completed his day with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 23.81 seconds. He was joined by
Ryan McGeehan in third-place at 24.37 seconds to round out the top performances of the meet.
Slippery Rock will be back in action next Saturday at Kent State University.
