LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University thrower
Rachel Weber was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday in a release by the league office.
Weber earns the PSAC weekly honor for her performance Friday night in the SRU Open at Morrow Field House.
The senior thrower won both the weight throw and the shot put, setting the school record in the weight and posting the fourth-best performances in the PSAC this season in each event.
Weber won the weight throw with a toss of 15.29 meters (50'2”), narrowly beating the previous school record of 50'1.25” that was set by Erica Timmons in 1999.
Weber went on to win the shot put with a season-best throw of 12.57 meters.
Weber is the second Slippery Rock female to earn PSAC Weekly honors this winter, joining
Jen Hansen, who earned the season's first Field Athlete of the Week award.
The Rock track and field team will travel to Kent State this Saturday.
