SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Bethany Caudill knocked down a 3-pointer with 11 seconds left to lead the Slippery Rock University women's basketball team to a come-from-behind 80-79 win over Clarion Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division game at Morrow Field House.

Trailing by nine at halftime, The Rock slowly chipped away at the Clarion lead throughout the second half. The Golden Eagles held a four-point lead with 25 seconds left when Grace Palucis sank a layup to bring SRU to within two.

After a missed Clarion free throw, Rock head coach Laurel Heilman called a timeout to set up the final possession.

On SRU's possession, Caudill rolled off a screen and buried the 3-pointer off an assist from Julie Molloy. After back-to-back timeouts, Clarion's last second shot attempt by Rachel Skolny fell short to give The Rock the thrilling win.

Caudill finished the game with 13 points. Molloy led The Rock with 19 points, while Palucis finished with 13. Nikki Presto added 12 points and Chere' Marshall chipped in 10. Emilee Vitez led The Rock with seven rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were led by Lizzie Suwala with a career-high 33 points, which is the most individual points allowed by The Rock this season. Suwala shot 8-10 from behind the 3-point arc. She also played all 40 minutes of the game. Bethany Koch netted 18 points and Sara Pratt grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and three blocks. Rachel Graeff dished out eight assists.

Slippery Rock finished the game shooting 50% (33-66) from the floor, its best shooting performance against a conference opponent this season.

Clarion finished the game shooting 36.6% (26-71) from the floor and 40.7% (11-27) from behind the arc. The Golden Eagles outrebounded SRU 45-36, and both teams recorded seven steals and four blocks.

With Saturday's win, The Rock now holds a 6-19 overall record and a 3-9 record in the PSAC-West. The win was the 110th in the career of Heilman, who is now just one win shy of the all-time record for wins by a head coach.

Clarion is now 13-12 overall and 4-8 in the PSAC-West. The Golden Eagles needs to win both of their last two games and needs Edinboro to lose out to make the playoffs.

The Rock returns to action for its final home game of the season against California (Pa.) on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. Slippery Rock's four seniors will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
