Friday saw Girls action begin at Penn Relays where many PA athletes posted impressive marks. Starting off on the field, Veronica Vacca from Mount Saint Josephs won the Pole Vault for her 4th straight year in a row. Her 13-3 season opener gives the indoor state champ the new PA #1 jump and puts her at 7th in the nation.
Moving to the horizontals, Nataly Walters of Palmerton in the long jump placed 5th with a mark of 18-9 1/4 which moved her into 2nd in the state rankings.
In the throws MAKAYLA KECK from Blue Mountain and Ava Flicker from Perkiomen Valley dueled it out in the Javelin. Makayla placed 5th with a 143-9 mark and remains 3rd in state while Ava threw 139-11 which placed her 7th. She remains 2nd in state.
The shot put saw Laci Nelson from Manheim Central throw 43-3 for 6th and moved her to 1st in state.
Onto the track, the JP McCaskey 4x100 relay crew of Damani Crosson, Ella Petrosky, Alondra Grover, and Corrine Miller ran a time of 47.40 which placed them 16th. They remain ranked 1st in the state.
Another relay, this time on the distance side, had Penn Charters DMR team of Alli DeLisi, Logan Llyod, Gwen Hamilton, and Marlie Klein DMR ran 11:50.28 which placed them 4th overall. That time is also a new state record meaning that Penn Charter now holds both the indoor and outdoor records for the DMR.
In the individual events, Grace Fritzman from West Allegheny ran a time of 4:54.47 for 8th. That mark moves her to #2 in the state.
Going up in distance to the Girls 3000, we saw Virginia Kraus of Saucon Valley run a blazing time of 9:31.62 for 3rd place. That converts to 10:13.75 for 3200 which is a new PA #1. Following behind her were two other PA athletes battling it out. Kendra Williamson of Episcopal clocked a time of 9:39.71 for 6th and right behind her was Cecilia Montagnese from Quaker Valley who finished in 9:40.47 for 7th. They both now occupy the PA #2 & #3 spots respectively.
