LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Sophomore
Neely Spence was named the PSAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by conference officials after setting a school record with a national qualifying time and helping the 4x800-meter relay squad increase its PSAC record by six seconds.
At Kent State, Spence had a second-place finish with a time of 4:48.54, which is a new school record. Her time is also the best so far in the PSAC and the fourth best in all Division II.
On Saturday, Spence joined teammates
Mary Dell,
Emily Dubs and
Amanda Raudabaugh on the 4x800-meter relay that also broke a PSAC all-time record for the second time in three weeks. The group finished in 9:04.77.
Spence's honor marks the fourth week out of the last five that Shippensburg has won the track athlete of the week award. It is the third time in five weeks that Spence has won the award.
