Rock ranked 30th by PING!Baseball

SRU dropped six spots from its preseason ranking in the wake of its four-game split last weekend vs. Tiffin

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Slippery Rock University baseball team is ranked 30th in this week's PING!Baseball Division II national rankings.

The Rock dropped four spots from its previous ranking in the wake of its split last weekend in a season-opening, four-game series vs. Tiffin (Ohio) in Wilson, N.C.

The Rock also received votes in this week's American Baseball Coaches Association national poll, as well as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association preseason poll. The first NCBWA regular-season poll will be released Monday, March 1.

SRU is scheduled to return to the field Saturday and Sunday with 12-noon doubleheaders at perennial NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional power West Virginia State.

The Rock will embark on its annual spring-break trip to Florida, during which it will play eight games in the span of five days in the Lakeland area.

The Green and White are scheduled to open their home season March 16 with a 1 p.m. doubleheader vs. Washington Adventist (formerly Columbia Union) at Jack Critchfield Park.
