TRACK
In sprints, sophomore
Katie Craven is Shippensburg's leader in the 55 and 200-meter events. Craven ranks third in the PSAC with a 200-meter time of 25.83 and ranks seventh in the 55.
Junior
Erica Hess, a three-time PSAC champion in the 400-meter dash, is once again the favorite in the event after posting the fastest time to date in the conference this past weekend with a school record performance at the Kent State Tune-Up (57.16). Three Lady Raiders are currently among the top eight competitors in the 400.
There is perhaps no finer example of Shippensburg's depth than in its signature event – the 800 meters. The Lady Raiders boast five of the top seven performers in the event and seven of the top 12, including league leader
Amanda Raudabaugh. The sophomore recorded a provisional qualifying time of 2:14.29 this past weekend at Kent State.
Shippensburg boasts the three leading mile runners in the conference, including two that have achieved automatic qualifying times for the national championships. Both sophomore
Neely Spence and senior
Mary Dell aced the event last weekend with respective times of 4:49.54 and 4:53.66 while junior
Abby Huber ranks third (5:00.39).
Junior
Katie Frey joins Spence and Dell as three of the top five competitors in the 3,000-meters, an event not run at the national championships. Frey is ranked second in the PSAC with a sensational time of 10:02.11 that was achieved at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
Spence and Dell are also the top two competitors in the 5,000 meters, with Spence having recorded a PSAC record time of 16:14.81 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational.
The Lady Raiders boast the top times in all three relay events, including a PSAC record performance in the 4x800-meters. Shippensburg and Slippery Rock own identical times in the 4x400-meter relay while the Lady Raider DMR squad has the nation's best time in the event and is just one second off its national meet record pace of one year ago.
FIELD
In the field, freshman
Megan Breski ranks second in the pole vault to lead the Lady Raider competitors. Graduate
Amanda Spickler ranks fourth in the triple jump, while sophomore
Lauren Redington ranks fourth in the long jump.
Junior
Steph Harrison is the team's leading thrower, having compiled the third-best effort in the weight throw and the eighth-best performance in the shot put. Junior
Rebekah Newhart, who tied a school record last weekend in the high jump, is the team's leading pentathlete having set a school record at the Bison Opener in December.
Numerous PSAC schools are also ranked high in the Atlantic Region. Slippery Rock, indoor champions for three consecutive seasons, is ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region and boasts the current top marks among the conference schools in the 3,000 meters and the pole vault. Kutztown, ranked fifth in the Atlantic Region, boasts a very well-rounded squad that has solid depth in addition to strength in the field with the top performers in the weight throw and the shot put.
Indiana (Pa.), currently sixth in the Atlantic Region, boasts the top sprint time in the 55-meter dash and the conference's leaders in both the triple jump and the long jump. East Stroudsburg (No. 7) and California (Pa.) (No. 9) are also among the region's Top 10 teams according to the most recent data provided by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
