Day One Results

EDINBORO, Pa. – Sophomore Neely Spence won her first career PSAC indoor title in the 5K while both the distance medley and the 4x800-meter relay squads earned conference championships on Saturday afternoon from Edinboro University as the women's track and field squad ended the first day of competition from the 2010 PSAC Indoor Championships in second place behind Slippery Rock.

Spence, who already has set an all-time conference record in the 5K during the season, recorded another NCAA automatic qualifying performance with a time of 16:46.35. In multis, junior Rebekah Newhart earned fifth place with a solid performance of 3,259 points.

The distance medley relay of senior Mary Dell, junior Sara Wlazelek, junior Abby Huber and Spence won by three seconds with a time of 12:11.33. The 4x800-meter relay that also has a PSAC record to its credit won with a time of 9:27.68. The quartet featured junior Emily Dubs, freshman Ashley Fornshell, junior Jamie McCollum and sophomore Amanda Raudabaugh.

Freshman Megan Breski impressed at her first-ever conference meet, placing third by clearing 11 feet, 5.75 inches. Also out in the field, junior Steph Harrison finished second in the weight throw after a toss of 51 feet while Krysten Goetter placed eighth.

Women's competition will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday from the Mike S. Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Dome.
