HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- The 39th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's tennis team closed out its spring-break schedule with an 8-1 win Friday afternoon over NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional rival Kutztown University.
The win was SRU's fifth in six spring-break matches and improved the Green and White's season record to 9-3. Kutztown saw its record drop to 2-4.
SRU is now idle until March March 28, when it will host NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional rival West Virginia Wesleyan in a 1 p.m. match on the SRU outdoor courts.
The Rock reigned in all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches Friday, highlighted by a "double-bagel," 6-0, 6-0 win by senior
Jessica Hilborn in the No. 5 singles match and an 8-0 win by the No. 3 doubles team of
Sarah Lynch and freshman
Janelle Krantz.
Hilborn and No. 2 doubles partner, junior
Chelsea Gibson, also won a 9-8 (5) decision.
