LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University third baseman
Jamison Walck was named Monday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in a four-game sweep of Clarion last weekend.
Walck, a freshman from Waynesboro, Pa., earns his first career PSAC weekly honor on the heels of helping to lead SRU to a convincing sweep over the Golden Eagles.
Walck hit .500 for the series, going 7-for-14 with six RBIs and five runs scored. He slugged .500 and had an on base percentage of .563, while drawing two walks and picking up one stolen base.
In the field, he committed no errors, made one put out and contributed four assists.
Walck started the weekend with a 3-for-5 performance with four RBIs and two runs scored in the series-opening win over the Golden Eagles. He went 2-for-3 with a run in game 3 of the series and scored two runs and drove in one more in the series finale.
The Rock evened its record at 10-10 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC-West after posting 15-0, 6-0, 4-3 and 10-2 wins over Clarion.
Slippery Rock is scheduled to travel to Gannon Friday for a doubleheader against the division leading Golden Knights. Gannon will visit SRU Saturday at for a doubleheader at Jack Critchfield park. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. both days.
