LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Allison Smith was named Tuesday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week for her performance in the season-opening Coastal Carolina Invitational.
Smith won the 400-meter hurdles at the CCU Invitational with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:02.27. That time is the fastest in the PSAC this season and ranks fourth in Division II.
She followed that performance with a second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles, trailing only teammate
Amanda Seigworth, posting a time of 14.90 seconds and narrowly missing the provisional standard. That mark is the second-best in the PSAC behind Seigworth's provisional qualifier of 14.54 seconds.
Smith capped the season-opener by running a leg of the second-place 4x400-meter relay team, which posted the fastest time in the PSAC this season at 3:55.61. She was joined by Seigworth,
Tiffany Tedesco and
Kaela Snyder on the relay.
Smith will be joined by select teammates in competing at the Raleigh Relays this weekend at North Carolina State University. Rock athletes not traveling to Raleigh will compete in the Western Pennsylvania Championships Saturday at California (Pa.).
