Day 1 Results

LEXINGTON, Va. – Shippensburg University women's track and field senior Mary Dell ran the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the first time in her career on a frigid Friday night from the Washington & Lee Track and Field Carnival and responded with an automatic qualifying time of 10:38.73 to highlight a strong night of competition for the Lady Raiders.

It's safe to say that Dell is a quick learner, considering she broke the SU record in the event by more than 46 seconds. A hurdler and sprinter in high school, Dell has quickly transitioned to the steeplechase by posting a time that is just 15 seconds off the 2009 national championship pace of Southern Indiana's Mary Ballinger. Dell's effort is more than seven seconds faster than the automatic qualifying performance mark and the fastest time to date in the nation.

Also on the track, junior Emily Dubs posted the second-fastest time thus far in the PSAC for the 1,500-meter run by crossing the finish line in 4:48.18. More action will take place tomorrow from Lexington.
