LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --
Jen Harpp was named Tuesday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week for her performance last weekend at the Raleigh Relays.
Harpp earns her first weekly honor of the outdoor season after dominating the field in the 10,000-meter run at the Raleigh Relays, winning the event with an NCAA automatic qualifying performance of 34:45.44.
That mark shatters her own Slippery Rock record of 35:21, set last season, and is the second-fastest time in Division II this season. She is one of only two athletes in the nation to reach the automatic qualifier and post a time under 35 minutes.
The Rock will rest this weekend before returning to action next weekend. The distance runners will travel to Bucknell for the Distance Carnival Friday night, April 9, while the rest of the team will host the SRU Invitational Saturday at The Bill Lennox Track at Thompson Stadium.
