ERIE, Pa. -- Sophomore
Dunja Drmac recorded a "double-bagel," 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 3 singles match Thursday afternoon to lead the 39th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's tennis team to an 8-1 win over hosting Mercyhurst in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.
Drmac was one of four Rock players who had a hand in the scoring of two team points in the match. She also teamed with senior
Laura Handy to win an 8-2 decision in the No. 1 doubles duel.
Handy joined Drmac as a double winner as she also won her No. 1 singles match in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 10-6).
Sophomore
Sarah Lynch and freshman
Janelle Krantz rounded out the double winners. Lynch won a 6-1, 6-0 decision in the No. 2 singles match and Krantz scored a three-set (3-6, 7-5, 10-7) win in the No. 6 singles match. The duo then teamed up to record an 8-2 decision in the No. 3 doubles duel.
Thursday's win gave the Green and White an 11-3 season record heading into Tuesday's home match vs. Allegheny (4 p.m. start time) on the SRU outdoor courts.
