SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The 44th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's tennis team recorded its sixth straight win Thursday with a 5-0 triumph over hosting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Shippensburg.
The win was the 14th in 17 matches overall and third in as many division matches played by The Rock this season and assured the Green and White a berth in the PSAC playoffs for the fifth consecutive season and ninth time in the last 10 seasons.
The Rock can clinch a host role for an April 20 opening-round match of onference tournament with a win in Saturday's 12-noon duel with Indiana (Pa.) on the SRU outdoor courts.
Shippensburg saw its season records fall to 2-11 overall, 0-3 in PSAC-West action.
The Rock won two singles matches Thursday by 6-0, 6-0 scores and claimed two of the three doubles matches by 8-0 scores to breeze to victory in the match that was played under a "race-to-five" format indoors at The Tennis Club in Zullinger
