SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The 44th-ranked Slippery Rock University women's tennis team recorded its eighth straight win and 16th in 19 matches this season with a 7-2 triumph Sunday over visiting Charleston (W. Va.) on the SRU outdoor courts.

Sunday's match had NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional ramifications. SRU is ranked third in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional poll, while Charleston (19-6) is ranked fourth.

The win was the sixth recorded by The Rock against teams currently ranked in the regional top 10. SRU also owns wins over No. 5 West Virginia Wesleyan, No. 6 Kutztown, No. 8 Mercyhurst, co-No. 10 Shaw (N.C.) and co-No. 10 Indiana (Pa.).

SRU, which dumped Indiana 8-1 one day prior to beating Charleston, will take a day off Monday to prepare for a Tuesday match at California (Pa.), the No. 1 team in the region and No. 8 team in the nation.
