INDIANA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track and field team picked up wins in five events Saturday at the Ed Fry Invitational, hosted by Indiana (Pa.) University.
Tiffany Tedesco led the way for The Rock women, picking up wins in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and running a leg of the winning 4x100-meter relay.
Tedesco topped the field in the 100m with a time of 12.26 seconds and then picked up the win in the 200m with a time of 25.52 seconds.
She was joined in the 100m by
Jayme Stanek, who placed third in 12.72 seconds, and
Rachel Knapp, who finished fifth in 12.77 seconds. Knapp also placed fifth in the 200m at 26.55 seconds.
Tedesco and Knapp were joined by
Allison Smith and
Amanda Seigworth in winning the 4x100m with a time of 49.07 seconds.
Smith picked up an individual win in the 400-meter hurdles, posting an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:02.13. She was followed by Seigworth in second-place at 1:04.71 and Stanek in third at 1:06.59. Seigworth also placed second in the 100m hurdles in 14.75 seconds with Smith in third at 15.04.
The Rock's fifth win came from
Kaela Snyder, who topped the field in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.75. She was joined by
Caitlin Hancox in third-place at 2:21.91.
The Rock distance runners were led by a 2-3 finish in the 3,000-meter run by
Abby Michaelian and
Jen Pace, crossing the line in 10:39.83 and 10:46.27, respectively.
The top field event performances came in the pole vault, where
Sarah Reppermund and Angela Shroeder each tied for second-place with a clearance of 3.05 meters.
Also picking up a second-place finish in the field events was
Jessica Koerner in the hammer throw, landing a throw of 45.78 meters.
Kara Hatchett placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.84 meters and finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 5.08m.
Rachel Weber rounded out the top performances with a fifth-place showing in the shot put with a toss of 12.09 meters.
The Rock will send select athletes to the elite Penn Relays from April 22-24 in Philadelphia, while other members of the team will split between meets at Ashland and Baldwin-Wallace April 24.
