Adam gets favorable "Jury" decision

Rock junior shortstop Adam Jury was named Monday as a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division baseball co-Player of the Week

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Slippery Rock University junior shortstop Adam Jury was named Monday as a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division baseball "co-Player of the Week" award winner.

A native of Bigler and graduate of Clearfield High School, Jury batted .556 (10-for-18) with eight RBIs, six runs scored, four doubles and a grand slam home run in five games last week to lead The Rock to three wins.

Jury was 4-for-6 with two doubles and two RBIs last Tuesday in a 13-12 win at Seton Hill, the No. 5 team in the latest NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional poll.

He followed that up with a 6-for-12 effort in last weekend's four-game series vs. Mercyhurst. His grand slam HR accounted for the winning runs in an 11-5 win last Friday at SRU's Jack Critchfield Park and followed an RBI double to give him five RBIs in the game. He added an RBI single last Saturday in a 4-3, eight-inning loss in the first game of a doubleheader at Mercyhurst.

Jury is currently batting .324 and leads The Rock in RBis with 32. He has also smacked nine doubles, one triple and two circuit clouts this spring. He is one of only three Rock players who has been in the starting lineup for all 41 games.

Last weekend's 2-2 series split vs. Mercyhurst gave The Rock a 21-20 overall record heading into Tuesday's non-conference twinbill vs. West Liberty State of West Virginia (1 p.m. first pitch) and moved SRU into position to earn a berth in the PSAC playoffs April 28-May 1 at Point Stadium in Johnstown.

SRU will be denied a playoff berth only if Gannon wins three of four games this weekend vs. division co-leader Indiana (Pa.).
