Amanda Seigworth won her heat of the 400-meter hurdles and was the top Division II finisher Thursday on the opening day of The Penn Relays at Historic Franklin Field in at the University of Pennsylvania.
Seigworth won her section of the invitation-only event and finished 22nd overall behind 21 Division I athletes, improving on her season best with a time of 1:00.86 seconds. That time is just off the NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:00.75 and is the seventh-fastest time recorded by a Division II runner this season.
Also competing Thursday at The Penn Relays was distance standout
Crystal Burnick. Burnick placed 33rd in the College 5,000-meter Championship, posting a time of 17:38.40.
Seigworth and Burnick are the lone two Rock athletes competing at The Penn Relays this year. The majority of The Rock track and field teams will travel to Ashland for the Ashland Alumni Invitational Saturday.
