Thomas Takes Second in Discus at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA
- Sophomore Jared Thomas took second in the championship division of the discus as the Bulls wrapped up their second day of competition in the 116th Penn Relays Friday afternoon at Franklin Field leading up to next weekend's BIG EAST Championships.

Thomas threw 181-0, placing second behind someone he will see next week, James Plummer of Rutgers, who won the discus title after a throw of 184-8.

Also on the men's side, senior Sean Young placed fourth overall after clearing a height of 16-2.75 in the pole vault. One of his classmates, senior Michael Kursteiner, competed in the high jump, where he placed sixth at the meet after leaping 6-9.75.

Senior Yvana Hepburn was the fourth and final Bull to compete Friday, as she ran in the heats of the 100 hurdles, ultimately placing 17th overall in a time of 13.84.

After months of preparation, the Bulls will begin to wrap up their 2010 season with the BIG EAST Championships beginning April 30 and lasting through May 2 at Cincinnati.
