Matt Meredith was named Tuesday as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division women's tennis "Coach of the Year" in voting by his division head coaching peers.
The PSAC coaching honor was the sixth received by Meredith since 2002. He also received the top women's coach award in 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2008 and was named as the conference's men's tennis "Coach of the Year" in 2005.
Meredith also received the Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional "Coach of the Year" honor in 2008.
The former SRU men's tennis standout is completing his 12th season as The Rock's head women's tennis coach and owns a 173-79 mark in that role. He owns a 212-194 career record that includes nine seasons as The Rock's head men's tennis coach.
Meredith's 2009-10 Rock women's team owns a 19-5 record, a No. 44 national ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and runner-up finishes in both the PSAC-West regular-season and PSAC tournament competitions.
The Rock was ranked third in the latest ITA Division II Atlantic Regional poll and awaits word Wednesday on its bid to serve as a host for NCAA first-and second-round competition May 6-8.
