LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Senior Amanda Spickler won the triple jump on Saturday afternoon with an NCAA-provisional qualifying mark of 38-feet, 11.75 inches to highlight a strong performance by a split squad of the Lady Raider track and Field team from the Elliston Track and Field Invitational hosted by Lock Haven University. 

Shippensburg split its squad this weekend, dispatching its sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers to Lock Haven while the mid-distance and distance runners joined the throwers at Princeton.

Spickler achieved her season-best effort and now ranks second in the PSAC behind Slippery Rock's Kim Stitt and 13th overall in Division II. She also finished fifth in the long jump, leaping over 18 feet.

The women's 4x400-meter relay was once again beset by terrible luck. Two weeks after a thunderstorm ruined their race at the Penn Relays, the Lady Raider squad ran a strong time this weekend only to find that the wrong zones were used for the race. All nine teams were disqualified.

Saturday's competition is the last for the Raider squad before the 2010 PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships begin on Thursday, May 13 from West Chester University. Select athletes may compete in a Last Chance Qualifier next weekend.
