Warning continues to lead Rock men

Chris Warning won the discus with a season-best performance to lead the SRU men's track and field team at the Elliston Invite Saturday at LHU.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
Chris Warning won the discus and improved on his NCAA provisional qualifying mark to lead the Slippery Rock men's track and field team Saturday at the Elliston Invitational, hosted by Lock Haven University.

Warning, who entered Saturday with the best mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference by over 10-feet in the discus, picked up the win with a season-best mark of 51.43 meters.

Joel Peters added to the strong performance by the throwers with a second-place showing in the hammer, landing a throw of 53.26 meters.

Kevin Dustin picked up a win in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a season-best time of 9:35.40, while Eric Geddis placed third in the event with a time of 10:01.70.

Ethan Geisler continued his impressive freshman season with a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 54.55 seconds, a season-best. Geisler was also fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.53 seconds.

James Sims capped the top performances for the Rock runners, placing third in the 400-meter dash in a time of 49.40 seconds.

Jimmy Schneider and Brady Wert each picked up a pair of third-place finishes to cap the top field event performance Saturday.

Schneider was third in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.60 meters, with Wert placing third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.85m.

The Rock returns home for the final tune-up before the PSAC Championships, hosting the SRU Qualifier Friday night. The PSAC Championships are set for May 13-15 at West Chester.
