PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior Josh Neyhart posted an NCAA-provisional qualifying mark in the 1,500-meter run on Saturday while five Red Raiders finished among the top of the pack in the 3K as the Shippensburg University men's outdoor track and field team thrived at the Princeton Elite Meet held at Weaver Stadium.

Neyhart posted a season-best time of 3:48.96 to win the event ahead of runners from Dartmouth, Columbia and NYU. He now ranks seventh in Division II for the event.

In the 3K, Shippensburg had five runners finish among the Top 9 places. Freshman Matt Gillette posted a stupendous time of 8:33.83, while junior Sean Stetler took third place in 8:36.34. Sophomore Stephen Schelander was also a top-five finisher, placing fourth in 8:37.10. Juniors Bryan Beegle and Ethan Rissell finished eighth and ninth, respectively.

Shippensburg split its squad this weekend, dispatching mid-distance, distance and throwing squads to Princeton while sending the sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers to Lock Haven for the Elliston Track and Field Invitational.

Saturday's competition is the last for the Raider squad before the 2010 PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships begin on Thursday, May 13 from West Chester University. Select athletes may compete in a Last Chance Qualifier next weekend.
