Rock foursome earns All-Conference honors

Sheree Horvath, Jessica Kortz and Jenna Geibel were named to first team All-PSAC honors Monday in a release from the conference office. Shardea Croes garnered second team honors.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.—Four members of the Slippery Rock University softball team earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division honors on Monday. 

Senior first baseman Sheree Horvath, senior catcher/first baseman Jessica Kortz and freshman outfielder Jenna Geibel were selected to first-team honors while junior outfielder Shardea Croes was selected to the second-team by the division's head coaches. 

Horvath, a native of Lehman, Pa. earned her first All-PSAC-West honor. She finished the season with a .342 batting average in 42 games. In 120 at-bats, Horvath had 41 hits with 13 doubles and four home runs. Horvath finishes her SRU career with a .333 batting average and appeared in 141 games. 

Kortz, a native of Charleston, W.Va. has picked up her fourth straight All-PSAC-West selection. She finished the season with a .373 batting average in 43 games. In 126 at-bats, Kortz had 47 hits with six doubles, two triples and 12 home runs. Her 45 RBIs and 12 home runs ranked third in the conference. Kortz finished her SRU career with a record setting 40 home runs and 153 RBIs. Kortz is also the first Rock player to be honored with four all-conferences selections. 

Geibel, a native of Butler, Pa. concluded a very successful freshman campaign with a .385 batting average in 43 games. In 130 at-bats, Geibel recorded 50 hits with nine doubles, two triples and 11 home runs. She led the team in total bases with 96 and finished second on the team with 37 RBIs.
 
Croes, a native of San Nicolas, Aruba earned her second All-PSAC-West honor of her career. She finished the season ranked ninth in the PSAC with a .407 batting average in 40 games. In 135 at-bats, Croes recorded a team-high 55 hits with five doubles and two triples. She finished the season 16-20 in stolen base attempts. 

The Rock finished the season with a 22-21 overall record and a 5-11 record in the PSAC-West.
