Beach Bums draft Dunn

Former Rock pitcher Scott Dunn was selected by the Traverse City Beach Bums in Tuesday's Frontier League draft

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. -- Former Slippery Rock University pitcher Scott Dunn was selected by the Traverse City Beach Bums in the second round of Tuesday's Frontier League draft.

Dunn had a 7-3 record and a 3.82 earned run average for SRU in 2009, his only season at The Rock. He made 11 appearances, nine as a starter, and threw five complete games. He struck out 59 batters and walked only 16 in 61-plus innings and picked a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-best five runners off base.

Before joining The Rock, Dunn compiled a 3-2 record and had a 2.95 ERA as a member of the 2006 Marietta College NCAA Division III national championship team.

The Frontier League is an independent professional league that began play in 1993.

Slippery Rock University was the home of a Frontier League franchise during the summer of 2007, when a league-owned team, the Slippery Rock Sliders, played their home games at Jack Critchfield Park.

The Sliders have since reorganized as a member of the Prospect League, a summer collegiate wood-bat competition. The Sliders will open their second season of Prospect League competition in early June.
