Dishong, Halls repeat as All-PSAC women's lacrosse selections

Brianne Dishong and Amy Halls have been named to their second consecutive All-PSAC women's lacrosse honors.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse standouts Brianne Dishong and Amy Halls have been named to All-Conference honors in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division, as announced in a release from the league office Wednesday.

Dishong was named to the first team defense, while Halls garnered second team honors at attack.

This marks the second consecutive All-PSAC selection for both Dishong and Halls, who each earned first team honors in 2009 to become the first All-League selections for the program since it returned to the Division II level in 2007.

Dishong, a junior from Stow, Ohio, appeared in 16 games with 16 starts and led the defensive unit with 44 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers. She also added three draw controls and committed just 12 fouls on the season.

Halls, a sophomore from Westerville, Ohio, led the team in scoring with 51 goals and 11 assists for 62 points. She also led the team and ranked second in the PSAC with 51 draw controls, while adding 26 ground balls and 23 caused turnovers to complete a stellar all-around season.

Halls' 51 goals rank second all-time in single-season scoring at SRU, trailing only her record of 57, set last season. Her 108 goals through two years rank second on the career-scoring ledger, just four shy of the record of 112 set by April Ennis (1988-90).

The Rock finished the 2010 season with a 7-10 record, marking just the sixth time in the history of the program that the team has picked up seven or more wins. The seven wins also tops last season's five wins as the most since the program returned to the varsity level in 2007.

Lock Haven, the PSAC-Western Division Champions, took home two of the three major awards with Leigh Titus being named the Player of the Year and Kristen Selvage earning the Coach of the Year award. Gannon's Jess Fugate was named Freshman of the Year to round out the yearly awards.
