Shippensburg Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Program Looks to Defend Its PSAC Outdoor Title

Red Raiders rank second in region, boast 82 PSAC qualifiers

WEST CHESTER, Pa. –
The Shippensburg University men's outdoor track and field program, currently ranked at No. 3 in the Atlantic Region rankings, will join 11 other programs at West Chester University's Farrell Stadium beginning Thursday for three days of competition at the 2010 PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. SU is seeking to defend its outdoor conference title achieved last year at Millersville.

Per the USTFCCCA regional rankings, the Red Raiders currently sit behind Saint Augustine's of the CIAA and fellow PSAC competitor Lock Haven. No programs from the PSAC are currently ranked in the men's national poll.

SU has not attained any automatic qualifying marks to date but nine athletes have completed provisional qualifying performances. Junior Josh Hostetler ranks ninth in the nation with a javelin throw of 204 feet 4 inches; senior Josh Neyhart sits 10th in the nation for the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:48.96 and senior Donnie Graybill ranks 11th for the decathlon with a total of 6,557 points.

The Red Raiders have recorded 82 PSAC qualifying performances and currently hold the top conference marks in the 1,500 meters (Neyhart), 5,000 meters (junior Sean Stetler, javelin (Hostetler) and decathlon (Graybill).
