CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Former Slippery Rock University men's soccer standout
Jeremy Deighton notched his first professional goal and first professional points in a match this past weekend.
Deighton, who plays forward for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the United Soccer League Second Division, scored a header in the 69th minute of a 2-1 loss against the Charleston Battery Saturday, May 15. His goal, which evened the match at the time, was the first professional points of his young career.
Deighton graduated from SRU with honors earlier this month after captaining The Rock men's soccer team to its best season in school history. He earned first team All-America honors to accompany Player of the Year accolades in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and the Atlantic Region.
The Riverhounds have used Deighton in four of the team's five games this season and he has registered one goal on five shots. The team is currently 0-2-3 in league play.
