NEW ORLEANS – Shippensburg University head track and field coach Dave Osanitsch '96 was named the 2010 USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Women's Head Coach of the Year on Monday afternoon while Steve Spence '85 was named the 2010 USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.

Osanitsch receives his first honor from the USTFCCCA for work in women's outdoor track and field and his fifth overall. He has twice been named the regional coach of the year for women's indoor track and field (2007, 2010). In 2006, Osanitsch was the men's regional coach of the year for the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Currently in his fifth year at the helm of the Lady Raiders, Osanitsch guided the Shippensburg women's outdoor track and field program to its first PSAC outdoor championship since 1998. SU totaled a meet record 212.5 points and scored in 20 of the 22 contested events. His program is ranked No. 14 in Division II entering the outdoor national championships this weekend from Charlotte.

Spence, in his 16th year as an assistant and 23rd year overall at Shippensburg, guided the mid-distance and distance crew to 84 points at the PSAC championship meet. Spence also coaches Neely Spence, who broke the PSAC 3000-meter record (9:21.49) and is the No. 2 seed in the 5000 meters (16:13.34) for the NCAA meet.

Both coaches contributed to the Lady Raider program becoming the first in the history of the PSAC to achieve a Triple Crown; winning the cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field championships in the same calendar year.

Additionally, Shippensburg won the men's and women's outdoor track and field championships in the same season for just the third time in program history and first since 1993. The Raiders also achieved the feat in 1984.
