SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Junior Abby Huber was selected to the 2009-10 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team for the College Division of District II, which encompasses all Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior colleges in the states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Huber, a history major seeking certification in secondary education, completed her sixth collegiate semester with a 3.88 grade-point average (GPA). She earned her first outdoor All-American award and her first overall individual All-American certificate last week at the Division II Outdoor National Championships with an eighth-place time of 4:29.70 in the 1,500-meter run.

The Mechanicsburg native was a six-time PSAC placewinner this season. At the indoor PSAC meet, Huber contributed to a DMR championship while finishing third in the mile and seventh in the 800. She finished fourth in the 800, 1,500 and the 3K at the outdoor conference championships.

In cross country, Huber served as the team's No. 3 runner at both the PSAC meet (17th place) and the regional meet (24th place) during a campaign in which Shippensburg won the PSAC and Atlantic Region championships for the second consecutive season.

For her career, Huber is a 17-time PSAC placewinner and six-time All-PSAC competitor. She has won an indoor national championship with the 2009 indoor DMR squad and qualified for nine events on a provisional or automatic basis for the NCAA national championships.

Overall, Shippensburg had the most PSAC representatives on the district track and field/cross country teams with four. Five of the 10 first-team honorees and 10 of the 20 overall hail from a PSAC institution. For the 2009-10 athletic calendar, Shippensburg had the second-most overall Academic All-District selections in the PSAC with 12 while California (Pa.) led the conference with 16 honorees.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selects Academic All-America® teams in 12 programs. A first team and second team are selected in both the University (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) Divisions.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
