READING, Pa. - After a very successful spring season, the Albright Track and Field team will travel to Widener University for the 2010 Middle Atlantic Conference Championship meet, which is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning and run through Saturday afternoon at Leslie C. Quirk, Jr. Stadium.

The Lions led by head coach Deneen Ebling will bring a solid group of competitors to this year's championship meet. Looking to continue their success from the conference indoor meet, Albright will showcase their abilities in a variety of different track and field events.

To lead off the three-day championship event, the red and white will compete in both the men's and women's 4x800 relays. The Lions will also compete in the 4x400 and 4x100 relays as well. This time last year, the Lady Lions set new program records in both the 4x4 and the 4x1. All four members of both record setting relay teams will be at this weekend's meet, and if teamed together should make another record setting run.

In the field events, both Clark Runciman and Erica Zeiters will be competing in the number one event, the pole vault. Runciman goes into the weekend with a season best mark of 12-05.50, while Zeiters carries a vault of 7-00.25 feet in what will be her final MAC's ever.

Truly a favorite to win this weekend in the high jump event will be junior Justin Gewirtz. With a season best jump of 6-04.00 feet, Gewirtz claimed another first place finish just a few short weeks ago at the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg University.

Stepping into the throwing circle this weekend, will be Andrew Hettinger, Dane Canonico, and Robert Baldwin for the men's team, and Lindsay Boyd for the women's team. Hettinger will look to break his season best mark of 117-08 feet in the discus, while Canonico and Baldwin will both compete in the shot put and hammer throws.

As the lone women's thrower, Boyd has shown tremendous development in only her first season with the program. At MAC's the freshman will compete in both the shot put and hammer throws, and will look to break into the top-10.

Freshman Jordan Fegley will also be competing in his first outdoor conference championship this weekend, and will represent the Lions in the javelin throw. With a season best mark of 156-07 feet, Fegley hopes to break into the top-10 as well, and pick-up some big points for his team.

Mackenzie Miller, who will be seen competing in numerous events throughout the weekend, will represent the women's team in the javelin. The junior is also scheduled to compete in the long jump, triple jump, and 400 hurdles. In all three events, Miller has shined for the Lady Lions posting impressive distances and times throughout the spring season.

Joining Miller in the long jump event will be Shannon Loos, who enters the meet with a season best jump of 15-05.00 feet. On the men's side of the long jump freshman Daniel Simmons will bring a jump of 21-04.00 feet to Widener, and will look to earn his first outdoor All-Conference honors.

On the track, Oshane Rennie will be seen competing in both the 110 and 400 meter hurdles. His 110 time of 16.23 seconds is less than two seconds off the all-time program record, while his 400 time of 1:00.97 is just five seconds off the program record.

Competing in the distance events this weekend on the men's side will be Bob Kellert and George Cook. Kellert has his eyes set on a top-10 finish in both the 3,000 meter steeple chase and the 5,000 meter run, while Cook will look to bring home a gold medal in the 1,500 meter run.

For the women's team, Kim Hummel will bring her record setting time of 13:04.69 to this weekend's 3,000 meter steeple chase event. The sophomore will also be competing in the 1,500 meter run as well as the 800 meter run. Gabby Stine will join Hummel in both events, while Erika Snyder will make her outdoor conference championship debut in both the 1,500 and 800.

Danielle DiPietro is also tabbed to compete in the 800 meter run after closing out the year with a time of 2:38.84. However before she switches to the distance running, she will first take on the 400 meter dash alongside a trio of sprinters in Meghan Loos and Shannon Loos and Taylor Kutz.

Shannon leads Albright with a time of 1:01.83, while her sister Meghan is right on her heals with a time of 1:02.87. Kutz will enter the 400 with a season best time of 1:02.87 and will definitely be involved in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays as well.

The speedy trio of the Loos sisters and Kutz are also set to compete in the 100 and 200 meter dash along with Dezare Lyles. In the 100, Kutz leads her teammates with a season best time of 13.36 seconds, which is less than three seconds off the program record at Albright.

Joining her teammates in the 100 meter dash will be Adey Olaoluwa, who like her Lyles will be appearing in her first outdoor championship.
