Personal Bests Continue to Fall at Widener Invite

CHESTER, Pa. – In one of the biggest meets they have competed at this season numerous members of the Albright Track and Field recorded new personal bests, while five others qualified for the Middle Atlantic Conference championship meet in May Saturday afternoon at the Widener University Invitational.

Amongst the Lions top finishes in Saturday's huge meet which featured Division I, II, and III programs, junior jumper Justin Gewirtz placed third in the high jump and Clark Runciman took fourth in the pole vault. Gewirtz's jump of 6-04.00 matched his all-time career best, while Runciman's vault of 12-05.50 was a new personal best for him.

On the women's side, Meghan Loos qualified for MAC's in the 100 dash with a time of 13.76 seconds. Kim Hummel was another MAC qualifier in the 800 meter run, as she posted a time of 2:38.38 which set a new personal best as well. Also qualifying in the 800 meter run was Erika Snyder with her new personal best time of 2:39.24.

In the very long 1,500 meter run junior Gabby Stine earned a place in the outdoor championship meet with a new personal best time of 5:25.86. The final member to qualify for MAC's was Lindsay Boyd in the hammer throw, who recorded a toss of 90-06 feet.

Shaving a large chunk of time off his all-time personal best was freshman James Guischard in the 3,000 meter Steeple Chase. The distance runner closed out the event with a time of 11:43.76 which was 1:22 better than his original time.

Track and Field will return to action on Thursday when the women's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams take part in the Penn Relays.
